Importance of Computer
In this competitor environment Information and communication are two most important strategic issues for the success of every enterprise. Today nearly every organization uses a substantial number of computers and communication tools like telephone or fax in order to run their daily routine works. Managers today are able to use applications like word processors or spreadsheets, not much of them use computer-based tools to communicate with other departments or information retrieval programs.
Computers are very important in this age. They make human’s works easy. Efficiency increases by the use of computers. But it can also make people lazy as computers are doing all works like for example: You are researching for a certain subject and instead of going into library or any other research center you will simply go into internet room and will complete the research in less time and with more accuracy.
A computer can give us everything we need. Every kind of research project, it also makes easy to find someone, a best storage file. Also you can make back up of your files if you accidently delete that. You don’t have to retype your file again because you have a back-up and it contains the same file. A computer can make your work much easier!
Age of Information
We are now living in an information age which is dependent upon digital information. Digital information is electronic information; you can say that the result of computer processing. Every type of job now depends upon getting information, using it, managing it, and relaying information to others. Computers make the efficient processing and storage of information possible for companies.
As its deep functions computer networks allow the users to access the remote programs and remote databases either of the same organization or from other enterprises or public sources. Computer networks provide the faster communications faster possibilities then any other facilities. If you see the success of any organization then it also much depends on the communication facilities available there as it increase the organizational learning rate, which many authors declare as the only fundamental advantage in competition.
In the modern work place pen and paper have become traditional and old things. It was not a long time when pen and paper stop to exist altogether. This policy is not applied on any workplace but schools and many other fields are also included in that. Computer has taken the position of pen and papers.
Do not think about computer as an only machine with some accessories like keyboard and mouse etc. Some old kind of computers comes in the category of only machine but they also are better then pen and writing pads. Computers which are taking extra ordinary role in every field are called embedded computers. These may be inside your household appliances, the VCR, the automobile, planes, trains, power plants, water purification plants, calculators, and even inside a few toys. These embedded computers are very small. They affect our lives each day.
